The Centro Histórico is about 9 kilometers from Mexico City International Airport (AICM/MEX), roughly 25 to 45 minutes by car depending on traffic. A private transfer takes you door-to-door from arrivals to your hotel near the Zócalo in a Sedán or SUV-Van, with a flat fare from $31 USD.

How long is the AICM to Centro Histórico transfer?
The Centro Histórico is the closest of our barrios to Mexico City International Airport (AICM/MEX) — about 9 kilometers. Off-peak the drive takes around 25 minutes; in weekday rush hours allow 40 to 45 minutes. Your driver tracks your flight, so a delay never costs you the pickup.
| Time of day | Typical drive time |
|---|---|
| Early morning / late evening | 25 min |
| Midday | 35 min |
| Weekday rush (7–10am, 5–9pm) | 45 min |
How much is a taxi from AICM to the Zócalo / Centro Histórico?
At the terminal you have two legitimate ways to reach the Zócalo and the rest of the Centro Histórico: the authorized taxi (sitio) desks, or a prearranged private transfer. The sitio desks charge a zone-based fare that is only confirmed once you pay at the counter, even on the shortest run on our barrio list. A taxi from AICM to the Zócalo is priced the same way — by zone — except a private transfer fixes the fare online before you fly: from $31 USD for a Sedán, all-inclusive with taxes and tolls, for the same 9-kilometer route in the 25-to-45-minute range described above. Note that the Centro Histórico is served from AICM, not AIFA (Felipe Ángeles) — Mexico City’s second airport, about 50 kilometers north of AICM — so if a connecting flight lands there instead, budget separate time and transport for the longer drive into downtown.
Meeting your driver at the airport
After customs at AICM, walk straight out of the arrivals hall to the street, where your host waits with a sign showing your name. Do not stop for the taxi and tour desks inside the terminal — your host and driver are just outside the doors.
